What does this mean? And how to stop it?

I cannot log onto Minecraft anymore. When I log on it says: Fatal error occured (2): null. What do I do? PLease help me!

Sorry for this topic.. I found out what to do 
I had to delete the .minecraft folder, make a new one then force update!

That's a bad install, if it is the V2 .minecraft then update to the new one, if it was the new V2 .minecraft then just re-install it if needs be.
